I recently stumbled upon this weird fact: 15 out of 20 most richest Youtube stars are making videos about games. And it was not even the title of that article in Businesses Insider. People may take it for granted but I found this awfully peculiar. Since when did games become so insanely popular?

Not so long ago, gaming was a thing  for the geeky boys only, shooting at imaginary spaceships and forming guilds on world of Warcraft. As a kid growing up in the 80’s I used to play tons of adventure games, but it was certainly not a thing I talked about with girls. A huge turn off.

My older sister, however, did play games. Those were weird games, however. It had no story and all you had to do was to move gems around, and my sis was moving them around for hours. I didn’t get it then, but now I understand that that game, Bejeweled, was one of the first casual games to have made an impact, and how important this game is to understand what casual games are. This game, among solitaire, was the tipping point for games to become popular, and, well.. legit.

Now, as it turned out, I make casual games for living and I try my best to understand what is in them that make people mesmerized. So why don’t you join me on a journey back where digital gaming started, and make this voyage together from outer space to your farm.
